Get better at AI at work — one workflow, one prompt, one skill a day.

▸ USE AI TODAY — Make AI interview you before it answers

Before asking AI to write or plan anything, tell it: 'Ask me 5 questions that will make your answer sharper before you start.' Answer them, then let it produce the work.

1. Paste your rough goal ('write a launch email', 'plan this project').

2. Add: 'Ask me 5 clarifying questions first, then wait for my answers.'

3. Answer briefly, then say 'now produce it.'

Why it works: 90% of bad AI output comes from a thin prompt. Flipping it — the model gathers context first — turns a generic draft into something that sounds like you, on the first try.

⌘ TODAY'S PROMPT — Long-haul with kids: a day plan built around naps, meals and meltdowns

When: You are taking young children somewhere far away and a normal itinerary will fall apart by lunch on day one. Plan the days around the children's rhythm, starting with the journey.

--- copy & paste ---

You are a family travel planner who plans around children's routines, not around attractions. I will give you the destination, dates, the children's ages and their usual daily rhythm, and what the adults hope to do. Produce:

A) THE JOURNEY PLAN — for the travel day itself: how to time it against naps and meals, what goes in the carry-on for each child, how to handle the time-zone change in the first two days, and the plan for a delay. Built from what I told you about my children.

B) THE DAILY TEMPLATE — a repeatable shape for each day: one main outing timed to the children's best hours, a rest block where the children usually nap or need quiet, a short easy afternoon option, and an early dinner. Explain the reasoning for my ages.

C) DAY BY DAY — the trip laid out with that template: one anchor per day, grouped by area to keep travel times short, and realistic travel time between places. Include at least one low-key day.

D) THE ADULT TIME — how the adults each get something they want (split mornings, a sitter if I said I would consider one, an evening plan near the room).

E) VERIFY BEFORE YOU GO — every fact I must check myself: opening days and hours, whether places allow strollers, child ticket rules, height limits, and the nearest pharmacy and clinic to where we are staying.

Inputs: [DESTINATION + DATES] · [CHILDREN'S AGES + USUAL NAP, MEAL AND BED TIMES] · [FLIGHT OR TRAVEL DETAILS] · [WHAT THE ADULTS HOPE TO DO] · [WHERE WE ARE STAYING, IN GENERAL TERMS]

Rules: Do not invent opening hours, prices, age rules or whether a place is child-friendly; put anything uncertain in the VERIFY list. Never name an attraction, restaurant or service you are not confident exists. Do not give medical advice for children; tell me to check with our doctor about travel health questions. Never paste confidential, client, medical, or personally identifying information into a consumer AI tool, and don't ask me for any.

--------------------

Why: Family trips go wrong when the itinerary is built for adults and the children's sleep and meals are fitted around it, which usually lasts until the first missed nap. Planning the journey and each day around the children's rhythm, with one anchor at their best hours and a built-in rest block, keeps the trip workable, and the verify list covers the details that are hard to fix on the day.

✦ Level-up tip (get better at AI): Give the model three things — a ROLE ('act as a hiring manager'), an AUDIENCE ('for a first-time applicant'), and a FORMAT ('a 5-bullet list'). These three levers improve output more than any clever wording.
